Churches, clubs, organizations and businesses are encouraged to build a float to enter in the parade

MINONK, Ill. — A World War II veteran recently began harvesting his 64th crop near the home where he and his wife raised their family.

John “Jack” Conroy, who turns 97 years young on Oct. 31, was operating the combine, while his son, Ed, 65, was handling grain cart duties. The father-son duo farm about 1,000 acres.

It’s a chore Jack looks forward to every year.
