The deadline for the CBAI Foundation annual scholarship contest is approaching fast!
Time is running out to apply for the Community Bankers Association of Illinois (CBAI) Foundation annual scholarship essay contest. First Farmers State Bank is pleased to promote this opportunity. The contest increases awareness of locally owned banks and their contributions to their communities. Any high school senior who intends to pursue higher education is encouraged to apply.
The packet includes contest rules and essay criteria. Be sure to read through the rules carefully as submissions that do not comply with the rules will be disqualified.
Entries must be received at any First Farmers banking location no later than 5:00p.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2018. There will be no exceptions.
Entries can be dropped off at or mailed to any of First Farmers' locations, so mailed entries should be postmarked before this date.
Please note: Disregard the February CBAI deadline date stated in the packet; that is the deadline for us to turn in the selected essays from all of those submitted. January 25 is the critical deadline date for students. First Farmers is allowed to submit a total of three (3) essays, and we will need time to review, select and submit the essays ahead of CBAI's deadline.
The top monetary prize of $4,000 ($1,000 a year for up to four (4) years of higher education) will be given to the student whose essay is judged the best from among the 13 CBAI regions in Illinois. The high school of the overall winner will receive $500 as well. If the overall winner is from our region, there will also be a $500 second-prize winner selected. If the overall winner is not from our region, then there will be a $1,000 first-place and $500 second-place winner.
Essays will be evaluated for overall quality and understanding of the contest rules, and the top three (3) entries will be chosen from all we receive and sent to CBAI for further consideration. CBAI will select their winners by early May 2018 and announce to their community bank members shortly thereafter.
Questions about the contest should be directed to LeAnn McDannald at (309)392.2623.
Based in Springfield, CBAI is a professional association that represents approximately 400 Illinois-chartered banks and thrifts throughout Illinois.
